How exciting! All your favorite Halo-8 filmmakers are participating in the brand new Halo-8 Filmmaker Blogs… the best place in the world to learn the ins & outs of alternative/independent/dangerous filmmaking! Each week, a new question from the Alt-Film Festival will be presented to the Halo-8 filmmakers, and they’ll each tackle it in their blog. The first question? “What is the biggest hurdle you faced making your first film, and how did you overcome it?” Check out the answers in the blogs located on the right-side of the Halo-8 homepage. Be sure to let us know what you think and if you have a question for the filmmakers!

Check out the Yoga For Indie Rockers feature in the Guardian UK and the review on DVD Talk. The world’s a sweatier place thanks to our gal Chaos!

The Man is trying to vivisect our favorite protest documentary Your Mommy Kills Animals! Read about it at Cinematical and MSNBC. Never fear, true believers… you can get your grubby lil mitts on the YMKA DVD right here!

We’re uber proud of our filmmakers Curt Johnson, Esther Bell, Joanna Angel, and Matt Pizzolo who will be joining Robert Greenwald (Outfoxed, Iraq For Sale) and James Spooner (Afro-punk) for the Alt-Film Fest’s “Alternative Filmmaking Panel” at Borders Books in Westwood this Friday Nov 16. Get your asses down there, sip a latte, and get schooled on how to make movies without having to picket like some fakeass coalminer. http://www.altfilmfest.com/

We suck at math, but according to Variety Your Mommy Kills Animals had the highest per-screen opening weekend of July 2007. Who shot who in the whatnow?? Check it out right here. Turns out people dig puppies and freedom of speech after all… who knew?

San Francisco’s Roxie Cinema has added another week to its current run of Your Mommy Kills Animals. Woo hoo! If you live in the Bay and have ever thought an animal was too cute and cuddly to torture or electrocute, then run on over to the Roxie and see this movie before The Man yanks it out of our cold, dead hands.

We’re excited to announce that Halo-8 kicked a couple of major studios in the teeth during the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal and won a bidding war for worldwide rights to the fantastic documentary “Your Mommy Kills Animals.” If you have any interest in animals or freedom of speech, then you’re gonna flip for this doc about the ALF and the SHAC-7. Hits theaters in September, DVD in November… just in time for Thanksgiving!

Threat won the “Best First Feature – Special Mention” award at the Rome Independent Film Festival! Thanks be to all our paisans!

Check out the newest review of Threat over at Blogcritics.org! Apparently the reviewer Georgette Nicolaides teaches Statistics at Syracuse University and is pondering her next tattoo. Talk about a jury of our peers! (…except for the teaching statistics part)
